Upright doesn't collect, sell or send your data anywhere. There's no account, no analytics and no telemetry, in the app or on this website.
The Upright app
Upright runs entirely on your Mac. It doesn't phone home or collect anything.
- What it talks to. Upright only opens Logitech HID interfaces, to read your mouse's buttons, battery, connection, firmware and serial number and to show them to you. Keyboards are never opened, so it never reads what you type.
- What it stores. Your button mappings, per-app profiles, mouse nicknames, pointer speeds and other settings are kept in Upright's preferences on your Mac (
io.github.upright.Upright). Nothing is written to the mouse's memory. - What leaves your Mac. Nothing, unless you choose to. Export… saves your mappings to a JSON file where you pick, and Copy Device Report copies your mouse's details to the clipboard so you can paste them into a bug report if you want to.
- Actions you assign. Open URL and Open App go through macOS, and Run Shortcut starts Apple's
shortcutstool. What happens next is up to the app, site or shortcut you picked.
Permissions
- Accessibility, to send the keyboard shortcuts, clicks and media keys your buttons are mapped to, and to change scrolling.
- Input Monitoring, only if macOS hides a mouse from Upright, which can happen over Bluetooth.
- Notifications, for low-battery alerts. macOS asks for this the first time.
You can turn any of these off in System Settings → Privacy & Security. To remove Upright's settings and permissions completely, follow the uninstall steps in the install guide.
